Serious Fraud & Organised Crime

 

Job Description

ABV Solicitors, a specialist criminal defence firm, are looking for an enthusiastic and diligent qualified Solicitor to join their Serious Fraud and Organised Crime Department.

ABV Solicitors have been recognised by The Times in their guide to the Best Law Firms 2023 and are ranked in Chambers & Partners and Legal 500.

All candidates should have a demonstrable interest in criminal law and in particular serious fraud, confiscation and organised crime.

The candidate will have a strong academic background, preferably has previous experience of working within a law firm and have good interpersonal skills.

You will already be a Solicitor with at least 1-2 years PQE, be used to handling your own caseload and you will need to work effectively with minimal supervision. The role will include:

  • Running your own caseload comprising of voluminous evidence served digitally;
  • Creating detailed analysis documents;
    Dealing with complex and novel legal issues, requiring the need to carry out legal research as and when necessary;
  • Be able to work efficiently as part of a team;
  • Play a significant part in the strategic direction of a case;
  • Have experience or at least an understanding and willingness to learn asset recovery tools under the Proceeds of Crime 2002, Serious Crime Act 2015 and the Criminal Finance Act 2017.

This role is for an immediate start full time at our Hayes Office and would be ideal for a newly qualified 1-2 years PQE lawyer to work in a top ranked criminal defence firm with Senior Solicitors and Partners in the Serious Fraud and Organised Crime Department. Any salary offered will be competitive.

In order to be applicable for this role, the ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate with examples, the following:

  • Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint format documents;
  • Analytical especially with numbers;
    Able to conduct legal research;
  • Using own initiative and working within a team where required;
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines;
  • Drafting legal documents such as schedules, proofs, court bundles and client instructions;
