Roheed is a qualified solicitor working in our Magistrates and Crown Court team.
Having obtained the Police Station Accreditation qualification, Roheed went on to complete his training contract at the firm. He attends Police Stations and Magistrates’ Courts on a regular basis representing clients on a wide range of allegations.
He has considerable experience in making pre-charge representations, persuading the police in dropping cases early on. His strength is in his meticulous drafting, attention to detail and negotiation skills.
His experience includes dealing with prosecution agencies such as the Local Authorities, TFL, Department of Work and Pensions and HMRC. He has also built a reputation at the police stations in the region due to his regular attendance.
Roheed has represented clients facing an array of offences, including regulatory matters, fraud, conspiracy cases such as drugs, serious violence and serious sexual offences. He litigates cases in the Crown Court and has worked with experienced counsel to formulate defence strategy.
He also prosecutes on behalf of the RSPCA on a regular basis dealing with an array of animal welfare-based offences such as illegal breeding, animal cruelty and abduction/theft of high value dog breeds.
Serious & General Crime Cases
Former Police Constable from the Metropolitan Police Force was charged with harassment against her former partner who is a serving Police Community Support Officer from Surrey Police. Client was acquitted despite not giving evidence on the basis that the course of conduct did not amount to harassment due to significant time breaks during this period which amounted to 10 days.
Two allegations of rape, vaginal and oral. Case involved S28 proceedings as the Complainant was considered vulnerable and subject to a guardianship order due to her complex mental health conditions/history. She also had the assistance of an intermediary during her S28 pre recorded cross examination and her VRI. Client maintained the sexual intercourse was consensual and denied using any violence against the Complainant. Jury returned unanimous NG verdicts in 2 hours.
Possession of imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence – S16A Firearms Act 1968. Serious case where client was facing up to 10 years in prison. Acquitted by a jury unanimously after 3 hours.
Sexual Assault x 2 – Successfully applied to dismiss both counts. Prosecution stated that Client had attended a local spa facility and sexually assaulted two females who were inside of a swimming pool. Client maintained that the touching was not sexual but merely accidental. Judge concluded that the evidence was not strong enough and client was awarded his defence costs.
Client of previous good character faced proceedings for S18 wounding with intent after being accused of attacking his partner at the time with a machete resulting in serious wounds to his arm. After detailed representations being made to the Crown Prosecution Service, they accepted a plea to the lesser count of S20 wounding with intent, avoided going to prison and sentenced to a high level community order
Client was charged with Section 18 GBH and making threats to kill against his partner at the time. Client was acquitted (found not guilty) unanimously by the jury after successfully proving that he was acting in self-defence at the time and that he never made any threats to kill his partner.
